Overwhelming Response

The residents of Innerleithen have overwhelmed the Future Innerleithen team with their fantastic response to a recent household survey. “Future Innerleithen” comes under the umbrella of the Community Trust, and the survey process is supported by Big Lottery funding. The aim is to produce a Community Action Plan for the town.

Around 1/3 of the houses in the town responded to the team’s request. Householders were asked for their views and have provided the team with a mass of information. Residents identified Innerleithen’s many strengths. The challenge now is to identify opportunities in the town, and key areas where change may be needed.

In addition the team has spoken to a number of interest groups in the community, about their vision for the town’s future. Visitors to the area are also invited to fill in our online questionnaire. All we ask is that you identify yourself as a non-resident on the form.

Remember to drop in to the town’s Community Event at Innerleithen Memorial Hall on June 13 from11 am to 3 pm. There will be more opportunities to hear about the project and to make your views known.

“INNERLEITHEN FUTURES” MAKE YOUR VIEWS COUNT

Last September a steering group was formed to prepare a Community Action Plan for Innerleithen.. As part of this process we will carry out a survey of community views. All households and various interest groups in the EH44 area will be consulted.

We have enlisted advisors to support and train the steering group, and their costs as well as some of our costs are covered by a grant from the Big Lottery. The results of the survey will be displayed at a Community Event on Saturday 13th June 2009 at the Innerleithen Memorial Hall from 11am till 3pm At that point advisors from the council will help us to apply for further funding to make “Future Innerleithen” a reality.

How you can help

Complete the questionnaire when it is delivered to your home during March 2009 (feel free to ask for more than one form so that all members of the household have their say). Support the town’s development by letting us know your views.

We need your input to make sure that our future plans reflect the needs of the whole community.

Look out for our updates in the Community Centre, Library, Doctors’ Surgery and in other key points around the town.
